Description:
As the Director of IT for POS & Operations Systems, you will oversee the full lifecycle of two critical platforms: the next-generation Point of Sale (POS) system and the Tunnel Controller System (TCS). Reporting directly to the CIO, you will lead an internal engineering team and manage a third-party development partner. This role is pivotal in creating systems, processes, and teams that will support the organization's operations across 250+ locations nationwide.
Responsibilities:
- Program Leadership & Strategy: Own the full lifecycle of POS and TCS, from discovery and architecture to deployment and optimization. Define technology roadmaps, establish governance frameworks, and align milestones with organizational growth strategies.
- Team & Vendor Leadership: Build and mentor the internal engineering team, manage third-party vendors, and ensure alignment on architecture standards and integration protocols.
- Systems Development & Engineering: Oversee the architecture, development, and QA of the POS platform and Tunnel Controller System, ensuring reliability and resilience across all locations.
- Enterprise Rollout: Design and execute phased deployment strategies across 250+ locations, minimizing operational disruptions and ensuring seamless go-lives.
- Security, Compliance & Support: Ensure compliance with PCI-DSS, EMV, and data privacy regulations. Define cybersecurity standards and establish monitoring and uptime SLA targets.
Qualifications:
- 8+ years of IT leadership experience, including managing multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
- Proven success in large-scale technology rollouts across distributed, multi-site operations.
- Experience with POS platforms, payment processing ecosystems, and hardware-software integration.
- Strong vendor management skills with a proven track record of holding third-party vendors accountable.
- Exceptional communication skills, comfortable engaging with stakeholders at all levels.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with tunnel controller systems, industrial automation, or OT/ICS environments.
- Background in retail, hospitality, or high-throughput service operations.
- Familiarity with PLC programming, conveyor control logic, or sensor integration.
- Experience with IoT fleet management and remote diagnostics at scale.
- PMP or equivalent program management certification.
- Experience in a multi-unit consumer brand or franchise environment.
