Description:
The Ohio Association of Health Commissioners (AOHC) is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Director of Operations and Member Services to oversee the organization’s operational efficiency and enhance member satisfaction. This full-time leadership position offers a dynamic opportunity to contribute to Ohio’s public health infrastructure by supporting the state's local health departments through high-quality programs and services.
Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Director will ensure seamless day-to-day operations, coordinate critical administrative functions, and build meaningful engagement strategies for AOHC’s membership. The ideal candidate will combine strategic oversight with operational agility, demonstrating the capacity to lead internal systems while being responsive to the evolving needs of public health professionals across Ohio.
This position offers hybrid work flexibility, requiring some travel within Ohio and occasional national travel. AOHC values diversity and is committed to creating an inclusive and equitable work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Operations:
Oversee AOHC’s administrative functions, including financial operations, human resources, facilities management, and IT.
Develop and implement effective policies and procedures to ensure operational excellence.
Proactively identify and resolve operational challenges that could impact productivity or service delivery.
Member Services:
Design and manage programs and services tailored to support local health department leadership.
Act as the primary contact for member support, ensuring prompt and effective responses to inquiries and needs.
Develop strategies and initiatives to enhance member engagement, satisfaction, and participation.
Identify evolving member needs and establish resources for continuous improvement of service delivery.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, management, or a related field.
At least 5 years of experience in operations management and/or member services, ideally within a nonprofit environment.
Demonstrated experience in staff supervision, project management, and financial oversight.
Strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a dynamic team environment.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
Familiarity with the structure and mission of local health departments.
Expertise in HR management, grant writing and administration, event planning, and facility oversight.
Proficient in data analysis, reporting, and technology implementation.
Skilled in event coordination and technology support.
Location & Travel:
Based in Ohio with the option for some remote work.
Required in-state travel and occasional national travel.
