Description:
You will be our first sales hire. Your job is to sign merchant acquirers and ISOs to resell How Much to their merchant portfolios. You will own the full cycle: prospecting, executive pitches, pilot design, commercial terms, and handoff into integration.
Our product is being built now. In your first year, success means signed design partners and pilots ahead of launch, then live acquirer partners distributing How Much to their merchants. You will report to the CEO and help write the playbook every future seller follows.
What you'll do
- Build and work a target list of merchant acquirers, ISOs and payment facilitators, from regional players to national processors.
- Open doors with executives in product, partnerships and merchant services, and run the pitch end to end.
- Sell the white-label model: why embedded cash-flow tools set an acquirer apart beyond rates, add recurring revenue, and keep merchants from churning.
- Design and close pilots and design-partner agreements before launch, with clear success criteria.
- Negotiate partner terms, including revenue share on paid add-on features, alongside the CEO.
- Bring partners' risk, compliance and integration teams together with our engineers to scope processor integration and settlement flows.
- Feed what you hear from acquirers and merchants back into the product roadmap.
- Create the sales materials, pipeline reporting and partner onboarding process from scratch.
- Represent How Much at payments industry events such as ETA Transact and regional acquirer gatherings.
What you bring
- 7+ years in payments, with at least 4 years selling to or partnering with merchant acquirers, ISOs or processors.
- An active network of decision-makers at acquirers and ISOs you can reach directly.
- A track record closing complex partner or channel deals with long cycles and several stakeholders.
- Working knowledge of how card settlement, funding and processor integrations work, enough to hold your own with technical and risk teams.
- Comfort selling a product that is still being built, using demos, mock-ups and a clear vision.
- A builder's mindset: you have worked at an early-stage company or built a sales motion with no existing playbook.
- Willingness to travel to partner meetings and industry events.
Nice to have
- Experience selling embedded fintech, white-label software, or value-added services into acquirer portals (for example Clover or similar platforms).
- Familiarity with small-business finance tools such as QuickBooks, bill pay, or cash-flow forecasting.
- Exposure to open banking, FBO account structures, or ACH payments.
- Experience negotiating revenue-share or reseller agreements.
- Relationships with bank-sponsored acquirers or fintech sponsor banks.
