Director Of School Quality

 

Description:

The Director of School Quality serves as the leader of the Academic Services Program and will provide members and new schools with service offerings focused on impactful educational opportunities grounded in data-driven continuous improvement practices to advance the quality of school choice opportunities for students in Colorado.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned and are subject to change.

 

Member Support – 80%

● Lead the implementation and coordination of support services offerings for all member schools, focused on Academic and Instructional needs. Ensure all service offerings are in demand, impactful, sustainable, and relevant to the League’s strategic goals and the School Services department.

● Lead the implementation of the support components of the League’s new Member Quality Standards and Supports (MQSS) program, an initiative focused on addressing chronically underperforming schools within the Colorado charter sector.

● Provide technical assistance to schools when questions arise related to academic and instructional needs.

● Recruit and manage quality education consultants for select work with member schools.

● Provide various support and mentoring opportunities for charter school leaders, including leadership cohorts, individual coaching and mentoring, and sharing of best practices.

● Organize and manage the League’s School Quality Review program.

● Manage health and wellness grant programs to increase the opportunities for charter schools to access and participate in health and wellness programming focused on nutrition, movement, and mental health. In cooperation with the League’s lead grant consultant, communicate regularly about grant project progress, deliverables, and budget.

● Work across departments to aid member schools with renewals, authorizer relations, leader-board relations, and parent engagement.

● Collaborate across departments on project teams.

● Seek, pursue, and manage grants and donations that support academic service programs.

● Administrative work, including submitting expense reports, approving consultant invoices, and completing billing pipeline entries.

 

Member Engagement – 20%

● Assist the team in managing relationships across member schools to include a subset of schools for which you will serve as the primary relationship manager.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide evaluation, coaching, and management of subject expert consultants as needed for projects and grant work.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

● Ability to independently lead, manage, and accept responsibility for various complex organizational functions.

● Strong facilitation skills with the ability to facilitate large-scale meetings in person and/or remotely.

● Instructional and content design and development.

● Experience working in a non-profit or startup, with minimal supervision and resources, and the ability to be highly adaptable as the organization changes.

● Strong leadership, project management, analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

● Resilient, self-aware professional with exposure to diverse experiences and a deep appreciation for diverse perspectives.

● Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

● Demonstrated integrity and high standards in managing information and data in a highly confidential and professional manner.

● Proven experience in managing large-scale programs and initiatives through strategies and tactical practices.

● Extensive experience with topics related to academics and instruction, such as school accountability, assessment, instructional supervision, school improvement, instructional strategies, and school culture.

● Familiarity with Colorado education policy and law.

● Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and online meeting platforms such as Zoom.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

● A Bachelor’s degree or higher in an education-related field. Master’s degree preferred.

● A minimum of five years of experience in an instructional leadership role; principal experience preferred.
