Distribution Specialist

 

Description:

The Distribution Specialist assists with the daily operating procedures of Distribution Services. Some job duties are receipt and delivery of all campus mail and freight, event set-up’s, surplus pick-ups, auction set-ups, campus shredding, furniture moves and contract postal unit support.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
 

  • Assist with the scheduling and fulfilling of freight deliveries, internal moves, event set-ups, deliveries, and disposal/re-purposing of surplus items.
  • Assist with surplus pick-ups, work orders, deliveries and disposal/re-purposing of surplus items and surplus auctions.
  • Handle incoming freight deliveries for Distribution Services.
  • Research shipping and receiving information and accurately enter data into the internal tracking system.
  • Assist with the document destruction and hard drive shredding process, scheduling, storage, and transfer of material to the vendor.
  • Maintain and establish effective relationships with internal and external customers and vendors.
  • Assist with the implementation of policies and procedures for proper handling of incoming assets, accurate documentation of information for UT-Share input .
  • Provides support for Mail Services and the UC Post Office in processing mail according to USPS standards with accuracy in all phases of the process.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned
     

Minimum Qualifications
 

  • High School graduation or experience equivalent with two (2) years of warehouse experience.
  • One (1) year of forklift experience.
  • Ability to lift at least 50lbs on a consistent basis.
     

Preferred Qualifications
 

  • People management experience, including solid competencies in talent identification and development, coaching and mentoring.

  • Analytical skills and knowledge necessary to identify opportunities and make recommendations for improvements based on a solid understanding of the business and competitive landscape and market trends.
  • A solid work ethic with a results-oriented philosophy and excellent judgment.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Very detailed oriented.
  • Ability to complete all physical tasks as needed.
