Description:
Deel, a leading global payroll and HR platform for distributed teams, is seeking a pioneering Economist to build and lead their research and economic function. This first-of-its-kind role will leverage Deel’s unique, large-scale global workforce dataset to produce original research, compelling narratives, and data-backed insights on global work trends. You will create annual public reports like the Global Hiring Report and collaborate with the data and communications teams to amplify findings through press and social media.
You will drive research initiatives on salaries, job growth, generational trends, layoffs, and currency trends across 150+ countries, building Deel’s position as a thought leader on the future of work. You’ll also help develop customer tools, establish strategic academic and industry partnerships, and contribute to content marketing efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead analysis and narrative construction for annual public reports (Global Hiring, Compensation, AI Trends)
Translate complex data into compelling reports, articles, and presentations
Collaborate with the Data team to enhance dataset quality and reduce bias
Develop a research roadmap leveraging Deel’s data for impactful insights
Maintain rigorous research methodologies and best practices
Build partnerships with academic institutions and industry experts
Collaborate with communications to generate viral, data-driven content for media and social platforms
Develop data tools for customers to better navigate global work landscapes
Support strategic collaborations with external researchers and organizations
Qualifications:
Minimum 4 years experience in analytics or data science
Fluent in SQL and Python
Deep curiosity and ability to analyze macro-level labor market data
Proven track record of original research on labor markets or globalization
Exceptional communication and presentation skills to translate data into narratives
Experience with data analysis tools and platforms
Proactive, entrepreneurial mindset passionate about the future of work
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with global employment data
Familiarity with international labor laws and regulations
Established network in research, policy, and media communities
