Description:

Benchmark, a global leader in advanced engineering and manufacturing solutions, is seeking a highly skilled Electrical Engineer III to join its Santa Ana, California facility. In this role, you will play a key leadership and technical role, overseeing the design and development of complex electronic hardware while ensuring excellence in quality, manufacturability, and performance. You’ll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to drive innovation, support R&D initiatives, and deliver top-tier engineering solutions that align with customer and organizational goals.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and execute electronic hardware design strategies that meet both customer and manufacturing requirements.

  • Perform and guide Design for Excellence (DFX) reviews, documentation, and process optimization to improve product quality and efficiency.

  • Provide technical leadership across Mechanical, PCB, Functional Test, and In-Circuit Test teams.

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to drive hardware design strategies and resolve technical issues.

  • Lead research and development (R&D) initiatives involving cutting-edge technologies such as FPGA, RF, power supply design, and single-board computer systems.

  • Utilize schematic capture tools like Cadence OrCad, Mentor Graphics, or DX Designer, and employ simulation software to validate designs.

  • Support proposal development, cost estimation, and project planning to ensure successful execution of engineering deliverables.

  • Mentor junior engineers and foster continuous improvement initiatives in processes and technologies.

  • Ensure compliance with all quality standards, customer specifications, and applicable regulatory requirements.

  • Collaborate with suppliers and clients to ensure seamless integration and product reliability.


Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field (4-year program).

  • 8+ years of experience in electronics design, manufacturing, and hardware/software development.

  • At least 1 year of leadership experience (mentoring or leading technical teams).

  • Advanced knowledge of electronic components, systems, and mechanisms.

  • Proficiency in schematic capture, PCB layout, and circuit simulation tools.

  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, applying sound engineering principles.

  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects with minimal supervision.

  • Willingness to travel 10–20%, including international travel.

Preferred Skills:

  • Hands-on experience with laboratory test equipment (oscilloscopes, analyzers, etc.) and advanced troubleshooting techniques.

  • Strong customer service orientation and team collaboration abilities.

  • Familiarity with continuous improvement tools and Lean methodologies.

  • Proven mentorship and leadership capabilities.

  • Professional discretion, integrity, and independent decision-making.


Additional Details:

  • Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (1st shift)

  • Location: On-site in Santa Ana, California

  • Compensation Range: $111,700 – $139,625 annually (based on skills, experience, and business needs)

  • Benefits: Comprehensive package including bonus plan, 401(k), paid time off, and health, dental, and vision insurance. Benchmark also complies with all applicable state and local leave laws.
