Description:
Marathon Petroleum Corporation (MPC) is offering an exciting internship/co-op opportunity for Electrical Engineering students in its refining operations. The position provides hands-on exposure to industry best practices, refinery operations, and cross-disciplinary engineering teamwork. Interns gain critical thinking skills, familiarity with electrical engineering in a refinery setting, and experience with project management, reliability analysis, and process control systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Work in Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) projects supporting refinery operations.
Troubleshoot electrical and instrumentation issues, analyze equipment failures, and develop solutions.
Participate in process control system support, including programming, hardware/software replacement, and system monitoring.
Assist with project management activities including scope alignment, cost and schedule development, and cross-team collaboration.
Gain exposure to Refinery Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) and Arc Flash studies.
Develop written and verbal professional communication skills through project documentation and presentations.
Candidate Requirements:
Major in Electrical Engineering
Strong academic performance
Authorized to work in the US full-time without employment visa sponsorship now or in the future
Valid driver’s license
Availability for spring, summer, and fall semesters; multiple work terms preferred
Military experience is a plus
Compensation & Benefits:
$32.31 - $40.89 per hour
