Electrical Harness Technician

Description:

Seeking an experienced Electrical Harness Technician with 4 years of hands-on experience to work onsite in Irvine, CA. The role involves wiring harness prototyping, vehicle electrical system support, root cause analysis, and diagnostic troubleshooting, with an emphasis on precision and collaboration across teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Wiring Harness Prototyping:

• Interpret early-stage pinouts, diagrams, and drawings to build innovative wiring harnesses and electrical subsystems.

• Act as the main point of contact for wire harness requests, resolving technical or informational gaps.

• Source components efficiently and build harnesses according to specifications.

• Test and validate harnesses to meet application and requestor expectations.

Vehicle Prototyping & Testing:

• Support vehicle-level electrical updates, modifications, and test equipment setup.

• Lead or collaborate on larger projects, delegating tasks as needed.

• Maintain ongoing communication with requestors and project teams about progress, blockers, and support needs.

• Perform iterative refinements based on test outcomes.

Root Cause & Diagnostic Support:

• Lead troubleshooting efforts for complex electrical issues across wiring harnesses, ECUs, and software.

• Isolate root causes down to wiring faults or component-level failures with a methodical approach.

• Conduct diagnostics independently and communicate findings clearly to relevant teams.

Driving Resolutions:

• Document and share root cause analyses with stakeholders.

• Provide actionable and well-contextualized technical information to teams.

• Support cross-functional teams throughout the resolution process.

Expectations & Skill Requirements:

• Extensive experience with wiring harnesses, electrical diagnostics, and vehicle-level electrical systems.

• Proficiency reading schematics, understanding harness terminology, and applying quality standards.

• Skilled in hands-on harness tasks including crimping, soldering, de-pinning, and working with small terminals and molded components.

• Comfortable using spreadsheets and project tracking tools such as Jira and Confluence.
