Description:
Valmont Industries, Inc., a Fortune 1000 global leader in manufacturing and infrastructure solutions, is seeking a highly skilled Electromechanical Technician II to join their team in Columbus, Nebraska. This is a full-time, weekend day shift role with an advantageous schedule—working Friday, Saturday, and Sunday for 12-hour shifts (36 hours total) and getting paid for 40 hours. Initial training will be conducted during the standard Monday–Thursday day shift.
This role is designed for technically adept professionals capable of maintaining, troubleshooting, and installing a variety of electrical, mechanical, and electronic systems in an industrial setting. The successful candidate will handle power distribution systems, plant equipment repairs, preventative maintenance, and equipment upgrades with a focus on operational safety and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Install and maintain power distribution systems including disconnects, gutters, conduits, and wiring in line with NEC and UL standards.
Diagnose and repair plant production equipment with minimal supervision, including electrical (up to 480V), pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.
Perform precise measurements, disassembly, and re-assembly of mechanical parts and components.
Maintain and install various control systems and modify existing equipment where needed.
Troubleshoot and repair industrial machinery such as welders, motors, fans, appliances, and plasma cutters.
Operate lifting equipment, hoists, and forklifts in a safe and efficient manner.
Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and electrical code standards (AC/DC systems).
Maintain accurate records of labor, materials, and report safety hazards or abnormal plant conditions.
Uphold cleanliness and organization of the work area, ensuring a safe and productive environment.
Occasionally mentor or assist junior technicians and team members.
Required Qualifications:
2–4 years of relevant experience in industrial electromechanical maintenance (5+ years preferred).
Ability to pass written and hands-on Electromechanical Technician II tests.
One year of experience in using industrial lifting equipment and troubleshooting tools (e.g., digital VOM, thermography gun).
Experience working at elevated heights (up to 80 feet) and availability for overtime (10+ hours/week as needed).
Ability to operate a forklift and perform light fabrication and welding tasks.
Strong understanding of pneumatic and hydraulic diagrams and electrical schematics.
Basic computer literacy including use of email for communication and documentation.
A degree in Electromechanical Technology or Electrical Technology is preferred but not required (requirement waived for degree holders in Electromechanical Technology).
