Electronics Test Technician

Description:

Element Materials Technology, a globally recognized leader in testing, inspection, and certification services, is seeking a highly motivated Electronics Test Technician to join its growing team in Rockford, Illinois. The selected candidate will be responsible for performing Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) tests, using precision instrumentation to measure and analyze electronic and electromechanical equipment within a state-of-the-art EMI laboratory environment.

The role offers a challenging yet rewarding opportunity to apply engineering principles to test design, execution, and data interpretation—supporting projects that ensure safety, compliance, and reliability of critical products used across industries.

Key Responsibilities:

• Test Design: Apply engineering principles to develop EMI test procedures and specifications in accordance with customer Statements of Work (SOWs) and test standards.

• Testing Execution: Conduct and support EMI testing activities, ensuring accurate and complete data capture. May independently perform testing when required.

• Data Processing & Analysis: Review, interpret, and analyze test data to determine compliance with specifications. Prepare comprehensive reports and communicate results to the Program Manager and/or client.

• Technical Judgment: Utilize analytical and problem-solving skills to evaluate testing scenarios and determine appropriate actions within established procedures.

• Client & Team Collaboration: Engage regularly with internal teams and clients, fostering collaborative relationships while maintaining high professional standards.

• Knowledge & Safety: Maintain foundational understanding of EMI engineering principles, global EMC standards, and safety regulations. Demonstrate expertise in data interpretation, troubleshooting, and equipment handling.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Minimum High School Diploma; Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field preferred.

• 2–4 years of professional experience in electronics testing, EMI, or related fields.

• Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical principles, data analysis, and global EMC standards.

• Mathematical proficiency and ability to design and use standard EMI testing equipment.

• Must be able to commute to Rockford and Chicago labs.
