CHS Inc. — a leading global agribusiness owned by farmers, ranchers, and cooperatives across the United States — is offering an Energy Sales Internship based in Mitchell, South Dakota, for Spring/Summer 2026. This internship provides a comprehensive learning experience in energy sales operations and customer relations, giving students an opportunity to gain real-world exposure to the agricultural energy sector and CHS’s Certified Energy Specialist (CES) program.
CHS is committed to empowering agriculture through innovation and service. Interns will learn directly from experienced professionals in the field, participating in customer engagement, sales, and operational activities related to CENEX energy products and cooperative services.
Shadow the Certified Energy Specialist (CES): Gain hands-on experience in energy sales and consulting operations.
Sales & Profitability: Learn strategies to increase sales and profitability through the implementation of marketing and consulting processes for CENEX products and cooperative services.
Customer Relationship Management: Develop skills in building and maintaining strong relationships with customers and potential clients.
Program Learning: Gain a deep understanding of CHS energy programs, including the Cenex brand and its product offerings.
Field Experience: Participate in field activities with the energy service team to understand operational processes and teamwork dynamics.
Ride-Along Experience: Accompany propane route drivers to observe delivery operations and coordination with service and sales teams.
Management Insight: Work with the Energy Manager to understand how safety, productivity, and efficiency are managed across energy operations.
Professional Development: Participate in meetings, sales calls, and internal discussions to build communication, analytical, and teamwork skills.
Perform other duties and learning assignments as directed.
Currently enrolled in an energy, agriculture, or related field of study.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Prior agriculture or energy-related experience or background knowledge.
Previous internship or field experience in sales, energy, or agribusiness.
Strong communication and organizational skills, with a focus on customer service.
Competitive hourly pay ranging from $15 to $21 per hour.
