Intertek, a world-leading Total Quality Assurance provider, is seeking an Engineer – Energy Safety to join its Electrical division in Plano, TX. This role offers an excellent opportunity to begin or advance a career in energy product testing and certification with one of the most recognized names in quality, safety, and assurance solutions.

The selected candidate will play a vital role in evaluating, testing, and certifying energy-related products in line with U.S., Canadian, and international safety and performance standards. Intertek’s Electrical business line serves diverse industries including renewable energy, medical, industrial equipment, hazardous locations, electronics, HVACR, lighting, life safety & security, and IT/telecom. The company provides world-class expertise and innovative testing methodologies to ensure compliance, performance, and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct on-site and off-site evaluation of products under senior engineer guidance to ensure compliance with standards.

  • Read, interpret, and apply national/international safety codes, product standards, and technical instructions.

  • Review electrical/mechanical schematics, validate project scope, and prepare necessary test equipment.

  • Perform product testing including battery cycling, voltage/current measurement, dielectric testing, abnormal condition simulations, durability cycling, and environmental exposure (rain, dust, corrosion, temperature/humidity).

  • Operate test equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, dielectric testers, surge generators, environmental chambers, and other specialized systems.

  • Compile, document, and analyze test results, prepare technical reports, and submit findings for review.

  • Communicate with clients, sales teams, and management regarding test progress and results.

  • Travel up to 50% to client sites for inspections and testing.

  • Ensure compliance with company protocols, sample handling, and safety standards.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.

  • 0+ years of relevant experience (entry-level candidates considered).

  • Strong ability to interpret technical diagrams and standards.

  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of working in a fast-paced, multitasking environment.

  • Excellent communication, organization, and customer service skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.

  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time.

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and legal authorization to work in the U.S.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Energy.

  • Prior project management experience.

  • Experience with U.S., Canadian, and international safety standards (ANSI, UL, CSA, IEC, EN).

  • Background in renewable energy, energy storage systems, inverters, or power conversion systems.
