Description:
ABB, a global leader in electrification and automation technologies, is seeking an experienced Senior Service Engineer to join its Electrification Division – Services Function. This role involves executing complex service projects across power delivery systems while ensuring top-quality technical performance and exceptional customer satisfaction. You will take charge of commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintaining advanced electrical systems while mentoring field teams and managing service projects that directly support ABB’s mission of a smarter, cleaner, and more sustainable energy future.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure all work activities comply with ABB’s HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) policies and the ABB Way safety manual.
Execute hands-on service projects, including startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, design, and repair of power delivery systems and equipment.
Work with power delivery components such as transformers, switchgear, OCBs, circuit breakers, busways, UPS, ATS, PLCs, relays, and power management control systems.
Lead outages and field operations involving engineers, technicians, and contractors — serving as project manager or lead site engineer when required.
Manage administrative aspects of projects including material orders, quotations, job reports, cost tracking, and customer updates.
Conduct technical training programs for internal teams and clients to advance knowledge of ABB’s field engineering technologies and standards.
Identify opportunities to improve system and operational performance through collaboration with clients and technical teams.
Plan and execute multifunctional field assignments, ensuring high-quality, timely delivery of service outcomes.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or High School Diploma/GED with a minimum of 10 additional years of related field engineering experience.
Minimum of 5 years of professional field engineering experience.
Strong background in testing, commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting of low-voltage and medium-voltage systems.
Expertise with LV and MV breakers, switchgear, relays, transformers, and power distribution systems.
Experience with repair/refurbishment of OEM equipment such as Siemens, GE, ABB, SquareD, Multilin, and Schweitzer relays.
Knowledge of medium-voltage synchronous machines, excitation systems, PLCs, and control systems is a plus.
Ability and willingness to travel approximately 75% of the time.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
