Description:
Clarios, a global leader in advanced energy storage solutions, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Maintenance & Engineering Manager to join their dynamic team in Florence, South Carolina. This role is integral to ensuring operational excellence, innovation, and sustainability in the manufacturing process of automotive battery components. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in mechanical and manufacturing processes, team leadership, and continuous improvement methodologies.
As the Maintenance & Engineering Manager, you will lead the engineering and maintenance teams to enhance equipment reliability, reduce downtime, and drive productivity through strategic planning, technical expertise, and the implementation of world-class manufacturing practices such as Lean, Six Sigma, and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM).
Leadership & Strategy:
Develop and implement engineering and maintenance strategies to improve product quality, enhance production efficiency, and reduce operational costs across the plant.
Supervise and mentor teams of manufacturing engineers and maintenance technicians to ensure effective performance and continuous skill development.
Engineering & Maintenance Oversight:
Direct hands-on engineering support for battery manufacturing operations, covering Formation, Shipping, and related support equipment.
Oversee and coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance activities to minimize downtime and optimize equipment performance.
Continuous Improvement:
Drive Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma initiatives, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Lead TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) implementation to enhance equipment reliability and extend asset life.
Technical Execution:
Develop, review, and document engineering changes, ensuring cost-effectiveness and compliance with operational standards.
Identify and mitigate potential nonconformances in product, process, and system performance, implementing corrective actions where necessary.
Training & Development:
Champion employee development by facilitating training programs for manufacturing engineers and technicians on new processes and best practices.
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE), Mechanical Engineering (BSME), or a related discipline.
Strong technical knowledge of mechanical and manufacturing processes, robotics, and assembly systems.
Proven experience with TPM and equipment reliability methodologies.
Preferred:
8+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in an engineering management role.
Proficiency in PLC programming and automation systems.
Green Belt and/or Black Belt certification in Lean or Six Sigma methodologies.
