Environmental Engineer

 

Description:

As a Hydraulic Modeler at CONSOR Engineers, you will support municipal utility clients by developing and analyzing hydrologic and hydraulic models to inform the design and optimization of critical water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure systems. You’ll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to evaluate system performance, identify deficiencies, and guide infrastructure planning and design decisions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, calibrate, and maintain hydraulic/hydrologic models for water, sewer, and stormwater systems.

  • Analyze system performance under current and future scenarios for master planning and asset management.

  • Identify issues such as bottlenecks, inflow/infiltration, and flood risks through model analysis.

  • Prepare detailed technical documentation, summaries, maps, and visualizations.

  • Conduct field data collection to support model calibration.

  • Process GIS data and integrate with utility records to update models.

  • Collaborate with engineers and project managers to integrate modeling results into designs and reports.

  • Ensure compliance with EPA, FEMA, and state environmental regulations.

  • Participate in QA/QC processes to ensure model and data accuracy.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s in Civil or Environmental Engineering (Master’s preferred).

  • EIT certification required; PE license or eligibility within 12–24 months preferred.

  • Minimum 2 years of hydraulic/hydrologic modeling experience in municipal systems.

  • Proficiency with software such as SWMM, EPASWMM, EPANET, InfoWater Pro, InfoWorks ICM, InfoSWMM, WaterCAD, SewerCAD, or MIKE+.

  • Strong GIS skills (ArcGIS, QGIS).

  • Familiarity with U.S. utility infrastructure design standards and regulatory frameworks (EPA, FEMA, Clean Water Act).
