Environmental Field Project Specialist

 

Description:

Montrose Environmental Group is seeking a dynamic and experienced Project Geologist, Engineer, or Scientist to support soil and groundwater sampling and remediation projects in Loveland, Colorado. This hybrid role offers a unique blend of fieldwork, office responsibilities, and remote flexibility, with a focus on supporting a major oil and gas operator.

As part of Montrose’s rapidly growing Environmental Engineering and Consulting team, this role is ideal for professionals who are passionate about environmental impact, regulatory compliance, and technical project leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead environmental soil and groundwater sampling, field investigations, and remediation activities

  • Oversee drilling operations, ensure accurate boring log documentation, and well screen placements

  • Perform geological/scientific analysis, conceptual site modeling, and feasibility studies

  • Manage multiple projects, oversee junior team members, and maintain technical documentation

  • Conduct data interpretation, report development, and graphical presentation creation

  • Ensure compliance with local and federal regulations, including ECMC standards

  • Communicate directly with clients and regulators, provide technical updates, and support proposal development

  • Maintain detailed time tracking and task accountability aligned with budgets and schedules

  • Adhere strictly to safety protocols, including OSHA and HAZWOPER standards

  • Represent Montrose in a professional, collaborative, and technically sound manner


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geology, Environmental Science, or related field

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in environmental site assessments or remediation

  • Valid driver’s license, and ability to pass criminal background, MVR, and drug screening

  • Strong technical writing, data interpretation, and report development skills

  • Proficiency with tools such as AutoCAD, ArcGIS, Microsoft Office/Google Suite

  • Familiarity with Colorado Energy & Carbon Management Commission (ECMC) regulations

  • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification (with 8-hour annual refresher)


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional licensure: Professional Geologist (PG) or Professional Engineer (PE)

  • Experience with fate and transport groundwater modeling

  • Background working with oil/gas industry projects

  • Previous oversight of drilling subcontractors and complex field sampling events
