Description:
As an Environmental Principal, you will serve as a senior technical advisor and trusted thought leader, helping clients navigate complex environmental challenges and develop strategic, high-value solutions. This role combines deep technical expertise with business leadership and is focused on advancing Apex's environmental practice through technical excellence, client development, and team growth. You will play a key role in mentoring staff, expanding client relationships, and driving the continued success and growth of the environmental services team.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and expand long-term client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor.
- Provide subject matter expertise (SME), lead QA/QC efforts, and mentor project teams to promote technical excellence and high performance.
- Manage project performance with a focus on quality, innovation, and client satisfaction.
- Travel to client locations as needed for meetings and project development.
What We Are Looking For
- 10-15+ years of environmental consulting or industry experience with progressive responsibility and leadership.
- BS in Geology or Engineering, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, or other related field. Master's degree is preferred.
- Licensure as Professional Geologist or Engineer.
- Established client relationships and an active network within the region or with national clients.
- Strong technical background in one or more of the core disciplines: Environmental Compliance, Site Investigation/Remediation, Site Development Permitting, EHS, or Due Diligence.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills for engaging with senior-level clients, regulators, and stakeholders.
- Deep understanding of your region’s regulatory and business environment.
- Ability to mentor and train staff.
- Strong technical writing and communication skills.
- Strong safety awareness and a good record and understanding of safe work practices.
- 40-hour HAZWOPER certification.
