Equipment Engineer

 

Description:

Responsible for leading small cross functional teams to measure, analyze and identify improvement opportunities in equipment and processes. Applicant would use methods (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, Root Cause Analysis) to optimize manufacturing processes and provide sustainable gains in product quality, process yield, and efficiency by utilizing statistical analysis, design of experiments, and daily process troubleshooting. Leads corrective actions to improve product quality and reduce waste. Responsible for composing engineering studies, creating change proposals, executing protocols and rapid continuous improvement initiatives.

 

This role requires high mechatronic aptitude (hands on mechanical, electrical, sensors, control systems). Engineer will use of available data sources for continuous review of machine performance and hands-on initiative to solve problems presented and prioritized via the data.

 

Leads small capital projects including management of associated internal/external resources and validations. Acting as a project manager, co-design and implement improvements to equipment and processes in support of contact lens production. Applicant is or would take ownership of role of subject matter expert in equipment assigned. Provide expert level support and advice to the organization on key processes as well as global support when requested.

Collaborate with Procurement, Production management, Engineers, Electro-Mechanics, and Quality in participation on capital projects including management of associated internal/external resources, financial decisions and validations (e.g., FAT, SAT, IQ, OQ, PQ). Coordinate with suppliers, supplier quality engineering, and quality control on raw materials and spare parts issues. Work with Safety, Quality, Validation, Engineering, Production Management, Training and MS&T to execute protocols and continuous improvement support for production initiatives and prepare documentation related to procedures, training, work instructions, validations, DOE, etc.

Makes decisions quickly with stakeholder groups to resolve major technical problems while minimizing downtime on equipment and processes. Actively prioritizes workload to meet production requirements. Understands risk and tools used to organize and quantify risk (e.g., FRA, FMEA, PHA). Composes specifications for equipment or changes to equipment (e.g., URS, FS, SDS). Capable of developing and supervising direct reports by providing training opportunities, promoting a team environment, and preparing them for higher levels of responsibility.

 

Language: Excellent communication in english - speaking, writing, reading.

 

Minimum requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +10 yrs; Assoc.+6 yrs; M.S.+0 yrs) The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English. 2 Years of Relevant Experience.

 

Preferred:

Education/Degrees/Certificates:

Minimum Required BS in Engineering or scientific discipline

Preferred Level: MS or higher in Engineering or Scientific Discipline, Mechanical Engineering study is preferred.

 

Experience Yrs and Type of Experience:

Minimum Required: 1 year of experience (BS/MS)

 

Skills Type and Proficiency:

Minimum Required: Project Management, Analytical skills. Proven skills in disciplines applicable to the Dailies process (Chemistry, automation, mechanical design, etc.)

Preferred Level: Over 3 years of experience in the medical device or pharmaceutical industry. Expert level skill in a discipline applicable to the Dailies process.
