Description:

IEA Constructors LLC, a part of MasTec Renewables, is seeking a skilled Shop Mechanic I or II to join its team in Teague, TX. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and optimizing the performance of MasTec Renewables’ heavy equipment fleet. You will perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs, ensuring all machinery operates efficiently and safely. Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on a variety of construction equipment and vehicles.

  • Conduct preventive maintenance and safety inspections to ensure optimal equipment performance.

  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues; determine whether repairs will be completed in-house or outsourced.

  • Operate equipment to identify malfunctions and verify post-repair performance.

  • Maintain detailed repair and maintenance records, ensuring compliance with company and DOT requirements.

  • Ensure proper labeling, inventory tracking, and documentation of all shop tools and equipment.

  • Collaborate with field teams to support jobsite repairs and maintenance operations.

  • Follow safety protocols, complete Job Hazard Analyses (JHA), and report any hazards or issues immediately.

  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to OSHA and environmental regulations.

  • Participate in ongoing training to enhance mechanical knowledge and technical expertise.


Qualifications:

For Shop Mechanic I:

  • Certificate or diploma in Diesel or Automotive Technology preferred.

  • 1–2 years of related experience preferred.

  • ASE Certification is an asset.

For Shop Mechanic II:

  • Certificate or diploma in Diesel or Automotive Technology preferred.

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.

  • One or more certifications such as Electrical Diagnostics, A/C Systems Repair, Welding, or OEM Certifications (CAT, JD Tech, Ford, etc.) preferred.

  • ASE Certification preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to read schematics and technical manuals.

  • Strong understanding of hydraulic, transmission, and engine systems.

  • Ability to perform OEM-recommended services efficiently.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.

  • Proficiency with digital tools for maintenance tracking, inspections, and documentation.

  • Commitment to safety and continuous improvement.


Work Environment:

  • On-site work environment with regular exposure to noise, dust, fumes, and mechanical parts.

  • Occasional travel to jobsites for inspections and repairs.

  • Must follow strict safety standards and wear appropriate PPE at all times.


Benefits and Compensation:

Hourly Pay: $23.81 – $36.87 (based on experience)
Work Schedule: 9-hour days, five days a week
