Description:

The Federation for Children with Special Needs (FCSN), a nationally recognized non-profit established in 1974, seeks an Executive Director to lead the organization through its next chapter of growth and innovation. FCSN serves over 45,000 families, youth, and children annually, focusing on empowering families of children with disabilities, engaging underserved communities, and eliminating systemic barriers to improve life outcomes.

The Executive Director will report to the Board of Directors and provide visionary leadership, ensuring strategic alignment across programs, finances, and operations. This role involves managing organizational growth and stability, leading the team, overseeing financial planning and development, and amplifying the Federation’s visibility and advocacy impact.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership and organizational oversight in alignment with FCSN’s mission

  • Drive growth, innovation, and broader impact in services and advocacy for children with disabilities and their families

  • Oversee financial planning, fundraising, and diversification of funding sources

  • Enhance collaborations with partners, funders, and advocacy groups

  • Lead and inspire a diverse and experienced team, fostering process improvements and organizational effectiveness

  • Advocate publicly and engage stakeholders to elevate the Federation’s profile and influence

  • Collaborate with the Board to recruit members/volunteers with philanthropic expertise

  • Explore fee-for-service training and consulting opportunities as potential revenue streams


Qualifications:

  • Proven leadership experience in non-profit management or a related field

  • Exceptional relationship-building, communication, advocacy, and public policy skills

  • Deep commitment to equity, family advocacy, and collaborative organizational culture

  • Experience in fundraising, development, and broad stakeholder engagement

  • Ability to navigate complex organizational and funding environments with agility

  • Strong commitment to the Federation’s mission and values, including empowerment of families and inclusion


Compensation and Benefits:

  • Annual salary range: $130,000 to $150,000 (negotiable based on candidate’s experience)

  • 25 vacation days, 4 personal days, and 12 sick leave days per year

  • Health and dental insurance

  • 403b retirement plan with 2% employer contribution after one year

  • Long-term and short-term disability insurance
