The National Museum of the American Latino deepens our understanding of the United States and what it means to be American – it is the SI’s cornerstone for visitors to learn how Latinos have contributed and continue to contribute to U.S. art, history, culture and science. As an Exhibits Specialist within the National Museum of the American Latino, you would develop and coordinate digital initiatives in collaboration with digital and emerging media partnerships as they relate to curating and digitizing exhibitions, collections, research projects and public programs about Latino history, art and culture.

Typical duties includes:

  • Develops, edits, and manages bilingual user interface and user experience (UI/UX) digital media scripts for the Latino Gallery’s digital media elements.
  • Archives and collection-based researches and develops of new scholarship for digital storytelling on all NMAL platforms, digital management strategic planning and implementation.
  • Serves as liaison to digital collections manager on digital asset preservation, maintenance, and archiving.
  • Organizes and participates in digital collection and metadata management systems.
  • Supports remote and in-person bilingual user expert testing sessions to check for possible usability issues as it pertains to all NMAL digital media features showcased in various in-gallery and online user interfaces.
  • Serves as liaison to the curatorial team, accessibility advisors, collections managers, educators, and designers to ensure the timely completion of various processes.
