Fabrication Drafter

 

Description:

Actalent is actively seeking a Fabrication Drafter to join their growing team in Delano, Minnesota. This on-site position plays a key role in supporting the manufacturing process by producing accurate 2D and 3D fabrication drawings, generating CNC machine programs, and working collaboratively with engineers, project managers, and shop floor personnel. The ideal candidate will have a strong command of drafting software, an understanding of fabrication techniques, and a detail-oriented approach to technical documentation.

The drafter will also contribute to improving operational efficiency by optimizing designs for manufacturing, supporting troubleshooting efforts on the production floor, and assisting in the development of drafting standards.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Create highly accurate 2D and 3D fabrication, machining, and assembly drawings using AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor

  • Optimize engineering designs for CNC machining, brake press, and other fabrication methods

  • Program CNC machines for various machining processes such as drilling and milling

  • Translate architectural and structural submittals into production-ready fabrication plans

  • Collaborate with engineering, project management, and manufacturing teams to ensure smooth design-to-fabrication workflows

  • Generate Bills of Materials (BOMs) and provide comprehensive technical documentation

  • Provide technical support to shop floor teams to resolve design or fabrication issues

  • Contribute to the development of internal standards for design and machining processes


Essential Skills & Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (required)

  • Associate’s degree or drafting certificate in engineering, CAD, or a related field

  • Minimum of 2–3 years of experience using Autodesk AutoCAD, Inventor, or SolidWorks

  • Proficient in AutoDesk Inventor, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office tools such as Outlook and Excel

  • Familiarity with PDF editing software such as Bluebeam or Adobe

  • Strong understanding of fabrication processes and materials

  • Ability to read and interpret construction and architectural blueprints

  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work collaboratively


Additional Preferred Skills:

  • Hands-on experience in CNC machining and milling

  • Advanced design capabilities using Autodesk Inventor

Compensation & Benefits:

💲 Salary Range: $60,000 – $90,000 per year
💵 Monthly Equivalent: $5000 – $7500
