Field Engineer

 

Description:

Hanwha Qcells USA Corp (Qcells USA) is seeking a Field Engineer to support the execution and delivery of utility-scale solar construction projects. This dynamic role involves assisting with project logistics, inspections, tool management, drawing review, superintendent support, and ensuring alignment with Qcells' project delivery standards. The Field Engineer will report to the Construction Engineer and will work on-site at industrial construction locations. This role requires full-time travel to project sites, sometimes up to 100% of the time.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Coordination & Compliance: Assist with engineering requests, procurement of materials, and maintaining necessary permits.

  • Communication & Documentation: Facilitate collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, oversee technical documentation, and manage project records.

  • Operational Support & Quality Management: Support superintendents with timekeeping, reporting, quality control checks, inspections, and execution plan monitoring.

  • Safety Leadership & Environmental Stewardship: Lead by example in safety, conduct job hazard analyses, ensure environmental compliance, and train field staff.

  • Professional Development & Team Support: Develop trade-specific training materials, support inspection/testing plans, and strengthen relationships with third-party stakeholders.

  • Additional Duties: Attend technical meetings, take detailed minutes, and perform special projects as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or related field; alternatively, minimum of 4 years work experience (2 years experience = 1 year education).

  • Competent in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

  • Demonstrated ability in project development, planning, installation, and execution.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Willingness to travel full-time and work in outdoor, industrial, and potentially extreme weather conditions.

  • Fluent in English and ability to multitask in fast-paced environments.

Work Environment & Physical Conditions:

  • Industrial construction sites and fabrication shops, with uneven ground, obstructed pathways, and work at varying elevations.

  • Exposure to extreme temperatures, humidity, rain, noise, chemicals, and hazardous equipment.
