JEFF SMITH & ASSOCIATES, INC., a leading US-based recruiting firm specializing in the water and wastewater treatment industry, is hiring on behalf of a well-established manufacturer with a 100+ year legacy. The hiring client is a comprehensive provider of wastewater systems and industrial machinery for sectors including water/wastewater treatment, energy recovery, and industrial applications such as laundry and food & beverage processing.
Due to strong business growth, the company is seeking a Field Service Technician to join their team. This is a remote position for candidates located anywhere in the United States, although preference is given to those in the Milwaukee area. This hands-on role is ideal for professionals with solid expertise in mechanical, electrical, and troubleshooting systems, particularly in water treatment, heat transfer, and industrial laundry equipment.
Install and commission water treatment systems, heat transfer units, and industrial laundry machinery.
Conduct equipment startup, calibration, and performance optimization.
Train clients on machine operations, preventive maintenance, and safety protocols.
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance to minimize system downtime.
Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic faults.
Replace or repair critical system components, such as PLCs, sensors, motors, pumps, valves, and control panels.
Ensure compliance with operational standards through regular performance testing.
Provide on-site and remote technical support to customers.
Maintain thorough digital records of all services and interventions.
Build and nurture long-term client relationships.
Identify additional service opportunities such as contract upgrades, spare parts, and enhancements.
Associate’s degree or technical certification in mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering (preferred).
At least 3 years of experience in field service roles with industrial or water treatment equipment.
Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting expertise.
Proficiency with PLCs, sensors, industrial controls, and automation.
Experience with hydraulic, pneumatic, and heat exchange systems.
Ability to interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and blueprints.
Excellent critical thinking, communication, and customer service skills.
Capable of independently managing field service tasks and schedules.
Up to 80% travel with minimal advance notice.
Must hold a valid driver’s license and pass background and drug screenings.
