Financial Controller

 

Description:

LHH has partnered with a well-established company in Dallas, TX to hire an experienced and hands-on Controller who will be responsible for leading accounting operations and ensuring the financial integrity of a multi-entity organization. This role is ideal for a results-driven individual who thrives in a team-oriented and casual work environment. The Controller will own the full-cycle close process, oversee financial reporting, streamline accounting workflows, and supervise a dedicated accounting support team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Close & Consolidation: Manage monthly close processes and ensure timely and accurate consolidation of financial records across multiple entities.

  • Financial Reporting: Prepare internal reports for management and external financial statements for stakeholders.

  • Account Accuracy: Review account balances using customized reports and database queries to ensure data integrity.

  • Audit Coordination: Collaborate with external CPAs to facilitate annual financial statement reviews and ensure timely audit completion.

  • Payroll & AP Supervision: Oversee payroll and accounts payable processes with a strong focus on accuracy and compliance.

  • Tax Administration: Administer and file sales, payroll, and property tax obligations. Lead tax return preparation for federal and state filings.

  • Internal Controls: Ensure strong internal controls are in place and accounting best practices are consistently applied.

  • Vendor Relations: Resolve vendor payment issues and participate in cost negotiation to ensure favorable terms.

  • Benefits Administration: Analyze and manage employee medical insurance plans and lead the annual benefits rollout.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required

  • CPA certification is mandatory

  • 10+ years of hands-on accounting experience, including 3+ years in a managerial capacity

  • Proficiency with MS Access is required

  • Familiarity with accounting systems such as Sage, SQL, and POS systems is a plus

  • Experience in retail, restaurant, or multi-location organizations is advantageous

  • Strong command of GAAP and financial reporting standards

  • High attention to detail, ability to meet tight deadlines, and manage multiple priorities

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills

  • Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion

  • Proactive, adaptable, and team-oriented
