The Division of Enterprise Operations (DEO) administers enterprise policies governing procurement, risk management, and continuity of operations planning; provides services to DOA and other agencies in the areas of financial management, procurement, risk management, continuity of operations planning, and the State Prosecutors Program; and facilitates opportunities for diverse businesses to sell goods and services to state agencies.

Under the general direction of the Audit/Reporting Unit Financial Management Supervisor, this position: directs, manages and supervises the provision of Federal grant accounting, reporting and financial management services by professional personnel to the Department and administratively attached agencies, boards and councils; assisting with the reconciliation of grant accounting records; preparation and review of Federal financial reports; subject matter expertise of OMB Circular 2 CFR Part 200 and other Federal grant compliance requirements to ensure compliance and monitoring requirements are met; review of departmental submissions for the Federal Space rates; and assistance with the development and maintenance of the Department’s Internal Control Plan and financial policies and procedures.

Due to the nature of the position, DOA will conduct background checks on applicants prior to selection. DOA does not sponsor work visas. All persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States, and to complete the required employment eligibility form.

This position is located at the Department of Administration State Office Building, 101 East Wilson Street, Madison, WI. Certain positions may allow remote/work from home flexibility for a portion of their work schedule, depending on the needs of the position and the work unit. This topic and any remote work flexibility that may be available will be discussed in more detail in the interview process. For positions that do allow remote work flexibility, although residency in the State of Wisconsin is not required for permanent positions, it is not anticipated that working outside of WI or bordering cities will be allowed.

Qualified applicants will have education, training, or experience:

  • As a lead worker, manager, or supervisor (e.g. delegation of work, hiring, evaluation, project management, etc.)
  • Managing/Accounting for grants, ensuring compliance with federal and/or state regulations
  • Utilizing complex automated accounting systems
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Accounting or commensurate experience
  • Interpreting and applying Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Preparing or auditing financial statements and financial reports
  • Performing accounting work for a government agency
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license
