Description:
Active areas of research include, but are not limited to:
1) Firefighting agent design
2) Personal protective equipment
3) Agent dispersal techniques and equipment
4) New fire suppression agents and technologies
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs RDT&E of moderate complexity by compiling and evaluating design and test data, preparing technical specifications, analyzing technical data to determine appropriate limits and variables for product, process or materials specifications
- Designs experimentation procedures for evaluation of fire extinguishment systems, including instrumentation, and data collection from field testing
- Presents findings via technical reports
- Performs standardized chemical analysis of firefighting agents
THE FOLLOWING IS REQUIRED
- BS in chemical engineering, fire protection engineering or equivalent
- Knowledge of fire research and/or firefighting practices is desired
- Proactive, self-starter who can work independently and in a team environment
- Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen with ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
