Bon Secours Mercy Health is seeking Traveling Respiratory Therapists (RT) to join its System Flex Team, offering a dynamic opportunity to provide life-saving respiratory care across multiple hospital locations in the network. This is a full-time, on-site role that involves traveling to various BSMH sites in Ohio, Kentucky, South Carolina, and Virginia.

As a Flex Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP), you will deliver patient-centered care to promote and restore respiratory health. This includes assessment, planning, therapeutic intervention, education, and evaluation. You will work in collaboration with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to deliver diagnostic services and therapeutic procedures aligned with standards of practice and state licensure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Travel to and provide care at multiple Bon Secours Mercy Health facilities

  • Conduct diagnostic and therapeutic respiratory care procedures including PFTs, ABGs, EKGs, mechanical ventilation, aerosol therapy, and oxygen therapy

  • Assist physicians with bronchoscopy, intubations, tracheotomies, and catheter insertions

  • Perform CPR and airway management techniques per AHA ACLS protocol

  • Manage, operate, and troubleshoot respiratory equipment and ventilators

  • Collect and analyze blood gases, perform arterial punctures, and assess lab values

  • Educate patients and families on respiratory treatments and self-care techniques

  • Participate in code responses and resuscitations

  • Maintain accurate records, documentation, and participate in product evaluations

  • St Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital, OH

  • The Jewish Hospital, Cincinnati, OH

  • Lourdes Hospital, Paducah, KY

  • Memorial Regional Medical Center, Richmond, VA

  • Maryview Medical Center, Portsmouth, VA

  • St Francis – Downtown, Greenville, SC

  • And several other affiliated hospitals across multiple states

Required Qualifications:

  • Current Respiratory Care License in the practicing state

  • National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) credentials

  • BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications (American Heart Association or AAP/AWHONN)

  • Associate degree from an AMA-approved school for Respiratory Care (required)

  • Bachelor’s degree (preferred)

  • Proficiency in EPIC Electronic Health Record system

Preferred Certifications (Optional):

  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)

  • Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist (CPFT)

Patient Population:

  • Neonates, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics

Work Conditions:

  • On-site, full-time position with moderate physical demands

  • Periodic exposure to body fluids, hazardous materials, mechanical parts, and infectious agents

  • Some local travel and occasional high-stress environments

  • Frequent walking and standing, occasional lifting and pushing of 50-100 lbs

Skills & Competencies:

  • Expertise in ventilator management, oxygen delivery systems, PFTs, ABG interpretation, EKG monitoring

  • Patient assessment and education

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, time management, and documentation skills

  • Ability to adapt and function in high-paced, multi-site environments
