Description:
The FM Hard Services Manager will be responsible for ensuring that all client assets, infrastructure, and systems are fit for purpose, compliant with business-critical processes (BCPs), and aligned with statutory and legal obligations. This role requires strategic oversight, technical expertise, and project management to optimize availability, minimize disruption, and drive operational excellence.
Main Job Responsibilities
Asset & Compliance Management
- Maintain all client assets, systems, and infrastructure to ensure they are fully operational and compliant with statutory, regulatory, and company policies.
- Ensure all Business-Critical Processes (BCPs) are adhered to, mitigating risk to business operations.
- Oversee and maintain the Asset Management Register, ensuring all assets are documented, updated, and aligned with client’ asset management strategy.
- Develop, maintain, and regularly review the Inspection & Maintenance Plan, ensuring it aligns with asset lifecycle requirements, maintenance schedules, and operational priorities.
- Ensure all engineering-related Risk Control Documentation is up to date, accurately maintained, and aligns with company policies and regulatory frameworks.
Project & Maintenance Management
- Lead and manage all engineering and maintenance activities, ensuring that all systems, infrastructure, and facilities operate at peak performance with minimal disruption.
- Oversee the full lifecycle of maintenance projects, including planning, execution, and completion. Ensure all projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet client' expectations.
- Manage all supply chain partners, ensuring contractors provide a detailed schedule of works, obtain full approval of costs, and deliver high-quality services.
- Develop a structured works coordination plan that minimizes disruption while optimizing asset uptime and performance.
- Establish a proactive maintenance strategy, balancing preventive, predictive, and reactive maintenance methodologies.
Technical & Engineering Governance
- Implement best practices and continuous improvement initiatives in line with engineering and safety policies.
- Ensure strict compliance with Health & Safety procedures, particularly aligning with "Safety First, Second Nature" initiatives.
- Oversee Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) activities related to fixed assets, coordinating with local FM teams and contractors to address technical issues efficiently.
- Investigate engineering failures, identify root causes, and produce detailed engineering reports for senior stakeholders at the client, ensuring timely resolution and preventive measures.
- Develop, maintain, and audit engineering standards to align with Macro Group and client operational excellence requirements.
Stakeholder & Relationship Management
- Serve as the primary engineering point of contact for the client, managing all contractual obligations and ensuring service delivery aligns with agreed standards.
- Build strong working relationships with Client’ senior management, conducting weekly performance reviews, documenting progress, and ensuring transparency on key initiatives.
- Act as a trusted advisor, providing expert recommendations on asset strategy, risk mitigation, and operational enhancements.
Supplier & Performance Management
- Develop and manage a robust supply chain framework, ensuring all suppliers and contractors adhere to Client' quality, compliance, and performance standards.
- Conduct regular audits and performance reviews of suppliers, ensuring service levels are met or exceeded.
- Implement KPIs and performance tracking systems, holding vendors accountable for service quality and operational reliability.
About You
The ideal candidate should have:
- A degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Proven experience in engineering, asset management, and facilities maintenance within a complex, high-performance environment.
- Recognised HS&E qualification (IOSH/NEBOSH).
- Qualification in the environment/sustainability field (desirable).
- Project Management qualification (e.g. PRINCE2).
- Strong project management experience, with the ability to plan, coordinate, and execute engineering works effectively.
- Knowledge of statutory and regulatory compliance related to engineering, asset management, and health & safety.
- Experience in supplier management, contract negotiation, and performance monitoring.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to produce detailed engineering reports and insights.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with experience presenting to senior management and technical teams.
