Description:
The Group Business Affairs Lead is responsible for supporting the Director in overseeing the business affairs operations for specific accounts and managing key aspects of business affairs operations within the region. This role involves leading the business affairs work across multiple clients and providing clear business affairs guidance directly to clients while assisting with legal compliance, contract negotiations, risk management, and coordination with various departments to ensure smooth production processes.
Responsibilities
- Communicate directly with clients to provide clarity and insight to all business affairs needs for all client work.
- Assist the Regional Director, Business Affairs in collaborating with legal professionals to establish protective frameworks for the agency, clients, and third parties
- Help secure and clear rights for third-party content used in client productions.
- Make informed legal decisions and assess risks under the guidance of the Regional Director and communicate risks to clients
- Draft and negotiate high-level contracts, including talent agreements, artist usages, production supplier agreements, NDAs, and image licenses.
- Opine on cost-efficiencies for clients in terms of contract negotiations, talent and residuals savings, and production-related expenses.
- Liaise with Platinum Rye and Omnicom Production Talent to achieve the best talent solutions for creative projects.
- Engage with local authorities to ensure compliance with regional advertising laws and regulations.
- Ensure productions are vetted, including insurance coverage, risk assessments, and background checks on talent.
- Communicate with music agencies to secure composer agreements, obtain permissions from publishers, and manage licensed track usage.
- Guide producers through the production process, from pre-production planning to final delivery.
- Support the implementation and management of Digital Assets Management systems for post-production activities.
- Assist in leading and mentoring the business affairs team, providing guidance, and fostering talent development.
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of business affairs, legal compliance, and contract negotiation within the advertising and entertainment industries.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong understanding and application of the SAG-AFTRA Commercials Code and other applicable union agreements.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills and experience in interacting directly with clients
- Proficiency in contract management and Digital Assets Management systems.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
