Gallery Sales Associate

Description:

The Center for Maine Craft, a program of Shop Maine Craft (SMC), is looking for passionate and customer-focused Gallery Sales Associates to join our team. This role supports Maine artists by promoting and selling their handmade crafts, assisting visitors with travel information, and ensuring a welcoming retail experience. The position offers flexible hours and opportunities to engage with the local craft community.

Key Responsibilities:

✔ Customer Service & Sales: Provide exceptional service to visitors, assist with inquiries, and actively promote handmade crafts.
✔ Retail Merchandising: Assist with store displays, maintain visual aesthetics, and participate in exhibition installations.
✔ Point-of-Sale & E-Commerce: Process sales transactions using POS systems, support online sales, and update inventory.
✔ Maine Travel & Tourism: Share knowledge of local attractions, artists, and craft traditions to enhance visitor experience.
✔ Store Operations: Support daily operations, including opening/closing duties, inventory management, and general upkeep.

Candidate Requirements:

✔ Weekend & Closing Shift Availability (until 6 PM) is required.
✔ Reliable transportation to West Gardiner, Maine.
✔ Experience or a strong interest in:

• Handmade craft traditions and techniques

• Retail customer service and sales

• Merchandising and exhibition installations

• E-commerce platforms and WordPress

• Point-of-sale systems (POS)

• Microsoft Office & Google Drive
  ✔ A passion for arts and crafts, with a willingness to learn!

Hours & Benefits:

📌 16-35 hours per week (seasonal fluctuations).
