General Factory Helper

Description:

International Paper, a global leader in renewable fiber-based products, is hiring a General Factory Helper for its Buffalo, NY facility. This full-time role is essential to the smooth operation of the plant and offers a challenging, hands-on environment in a company committed to sustainability, safety, and career growth.

As a General Factory Helper, you will be responsible for supporting plant operations through hands-on labor and teamwork. You’ll assist with machine operations, product stacking, quality inspections, and general housekeeping, contributing directly to the efficient production of corrugated packaging products.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Supporting safe operations and maintaining plant cleanliness.

• Assisting machine operators with setup and production processes.

• Feeding and stacking materials at various machine centers.

• Ensuring quality standards are met and resolving quality issues where needed.

• Following all safety protocols including use of PPE and Lockout/Tagout procedures.

• Reading and interpreting job specifications and measurements accurately.

• Lifting, moving, and stacking materials (up to 35 pounds repetitively).

• Performing general labor tasks and other duties as assigned.

• Maintaining reliability and readiness to work overtime when required.

• Delegating tasks as necessary to optimize operational efficiency.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Must understand and apply basic principles of corrugated products and substrates.

• Ability to read tape measures and perform basic math operations.

• Strong problem-solving and comprehension skills in English.

• Physically able to stand, walk, lift, bend, and twist for extended periods.

• A dependable self-starter with teamwork skills and a willingness to cross-train.
