Pfizer is seeking a highly accomplished and visionary Global Development Lead, Medical Director in Oncology Early Development to oversee the clinical strategy, design, and execution of early-phase oncology drug development programs. This critical leadership position involves supporting first-in-human studies through proof-of-concept and ensuring seamless handoff to late-stage development teams.

The Medical Director will play a pivotal role in shaping Pfizer’s oncology pipeline, guiding early development assets, collaborating across cross-functional teams, engaging with the external medical community, and driving innovations in oncology and translational medicine.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute strategic development plans for early-phase oncology assets.

  • Develop and implement clinical development strategies from first-in-human trials through proof-of-concept.

  • Oversee clinical protocols, amendments, investigator brochures, study reports, statistical plans, and regulatory documentation.

  • Provide medical monitoring and expertise for early-phase clinical trials, ensuring data-driven clinical decisions.

  • Collaborate with multifunctional teams (clinical scientists, statisticians, pharmacologists, regulatory experts, and translational researchers).

  • Implement PK-guided dose escalation, combination therapy strategies, and precision medicine innovations.

  • Evaluate safety, pharmacology, and efficacy data from ongoing and completed studies.

  • Drive scientific output including manuscripts, abstracts, and presentations at global conferences.

  • Maintain strong relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs), clinical trial networks, and advisory boards to gather insights and feedback.

  • Partner with business development for external collaborations and research partnerships.


Qualifications

Basic Requirements

  • MD or MD-PhD with 2+ years of industry experience in oncology drug development.

  • Board certification in Oncology preferred.

  • Demonstrated leadership in clinical, translational, or basic biomedical research.

  • Strong understanding of biostatistics, regulatory processes, pharmacology, and pharmaceutical sciences.

  • Evidence of scientific productivity (publications, abstracts, conference presentations).

  • Strong scientific writing and communication skills.

  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional and matrix teams in fast-paced environments.

  • Passion for advancing oncology treatments and improving patient outcomes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong leadership presence with the ability to influence and collaborate across global teams.

  • Experience managing direct reports and large-scale clinical projects.

  • Ability to work effectively across cultures, backgrounds, and geographies.


Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary Range: $219,800 – $366,400 annually (≈ $18,317 – $30,533 per month).

  • Bonus: Eligible for Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a 25% bonus target of base salary.
