Description:

INDA, a national trade association headquartered in Cary, NC, seeks a Government Affairs Professional to support and expand its government affairs program. Reporting to the Director of Government Affairs, the role involves managing a portfolio of federal and state legislative and regulatory issues related to the nonwoven fabrics industry. This includes engaging with government agencies, congressional offices, industry coalitions, and leading internal INDA committees. The position offers flexibility in day-to-day responsibilities, tailored to the candidate’s skills and background. Travel (10-20%) to government affairs events and INDA conferences is expected.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a portfolio of state and federal legislative and regulatory issues.

  • Lead INDA committees such as the Government Affairs committee.

  • Manage advocacy communications and legislative tracking.

  • Engage with INDA committees and external coalitions.

  • Manage lobbying filings, disclosures, and administrative tasks related to government affairs.

  • Interface with federal agencies including EPA, FDA, HHS, Commerce Department, and U.S. Trade Representative office.

  • Engage congressional offices on industry issues and coalitions.

  • Manage state lobbying efforts within assigned regions.

  • Testify before state legislatures as required (virtually and in-person).

  • Attend state legislative conferences and represent INDA externally.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.

  • 5+ years experience in government affairs or public policy; trade association experience a plus.

  • Experience with manufacturing or chemicals regulations is beneficial.

  • Strong research, analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.

  • Public speaking and media relations experience is an advantage.

  • Ability to travel 10-20% for events, meetings, and conferences.
