This a 9-month tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor. Anticipated begin work date is August 2023. For best consideration, applications are due on/before January 17, 2023.

Situated in the School of Art and Design, the Graphic Design program merges innovative graphic design with print, digital and interactive media into a dynamic interdisciplinary curriculum. Students are expected to learn an expanded definition of design and a wide range of process-oriented skills; formal experimentation, conceptual project development, and critical thinking; and to apply this learning in their design practice through an internship experience.

Located in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains, WCU is a regional comprehensive university that emphasizes diversity, community engagement and collaboration.
An established creative practice and/or training with a national and/or international record of exhibition or performance.
Ability to demonstrate, through their teaching philosophy or record, an ability to mentor undergraduate and/or graduate students to foster collaboration, experimentation, and innovation across departments.
Experience in teaching courses, as an instructor of record, in graphic design, at an accredited institution of higher learning.
Evidence of excellent skills as a designer working with typography and layout.
Outstanding conceptual thinking and design skills as evidenced through personal and or professional work.
Academic, research and/or professional experiences with underserved populations.
Evidence of integrating issues related to diversity, equity, and inclusion into design classes.
