Classification Standard Duties:
Conceptualizes, designs, and produces curriculum, training, and/or promotional materials such as flyers, ads, brochures, logos, office signage, exhibits, and/or displays under general supervision. Designs and produces camera-ready art including graphs, charts, clip art, posters, digitization of graphics, line-art, and/or photos. Creates electronically-designed page layouts and imports word processing files into page layouts, as appropriate to the position; may develop and produce web-based graphics, as requested. Produces technical and scientific illustrations for presentations and/or publication, as appropriate to the requirements of the position. Consults with faculty and staff to identify their graphics needs, budget constraints, and reasonable deadlines for the project; serves as a liaison between the client and printers/publishers. Coordinates the printing production process to ensure quality: writes printing and other reproduction specifications (selects ink, paper, and print quality); inspects proofs for accuracy; recommends contractors (typesetters, printers, illustrators, photographers, cartographers). Writes and edits basic copy, as appropriate, which may include press releases in some instances. May coordinate a graphics or photographic library and/or maintain digital records. May provide technical computer support and install software programs. May coordinate and lead the work of others. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Required Education, Experience, Certification/License, Equivalency

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
KNOWLEDGE:Knowledge of principles and practices of graphic design. Knowledge of graphic layout and photographic requirements and procedures. Knowledge of printing and/or reproduction processes and techniques. Knowledge of printing procedures and requirements.; SKILLS:Skills in the utilization of specified computerized graphic design programs. Budget development and management skills as related to the production of new digital or traditional media communications. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community.; ABILITIES:Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to create and produce graphic materials using a range of media, methods, techniques, and equipment. Ability to analyze graphic and technical information and create interpretive illustrations. Ability to analyze and interpret user graphic requirements. Ability to develop print and/or reproduction specifications.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
As a Graphic Designer, you will be responsible for conceptualizing, designing, and producing high-quality artwork for digital, print, and video communication pieces. Under general supervision, you will utilize your knowledge to create visually captivating curriculum materials, training materials, promotional materials, and more. Your expertise in graphic layout, printing processes, and reproduction techniques will be crucial in ensuring the production of top-notch materials.

In this role, you will collaborate closely with faculty and staff to understand their needs, budget constraints, and project deadlines. You will serve as a liaison between clients and vendors, coordinating the printing production process to maintain quality standards. Additionally, you may be involved in basic copywriting, maintaining digital records, and providing technical computer support when required.

Proficiency in utilizing graphic design software and the ability to work with various media, methods, techniques, and equipment are essential. Your strong interpersonal skills and effective communication abilities will enable you to collaborate successfully with diverse individuals and constituencies in our community.
