Ground Service Equipment Technician

Description:

United Airlines is seeking a Ground Service Equipment Technician (Automotive and Diesel) to join their Technical Operations team. This role focuses on maintaining and repairing ground service equipment that supports aircraft operations, ensuring the fleet remains in optimal condition. A $10,000 sign-on bonus is offered exclusively to external candidates.

Key Responsibilities:

• Troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on both motorized and non-motorized Ground Service Equipment (GSE).

• Conduct diagnostic testing and repair of gas engines, transmissions, suspension, brake systems, and diesel engines.

• Maintain heavy industrial equipment including large aircraft air conditioners, air start, and ground electrical power units.

• Follow union guidelines as represented by the International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT); schedules are bid by seniority.

• Join the union within 90 days of employment and pay associated initiation fees and monthly dues.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.

• Valid state-issued driver’s license.

• Ability to work any assigned shift, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime.

• Physical ability to climb ladders, walk for extended periods, work outdoors in all weather conditions, and perform moderate lifting.

• Basic computer skills for data input and retrieval.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certificate from an accredited automotive school.

• Experience with motorized equipment supporting airport ground operations.
