The University of Arkansas is seeking a dedicated Hall Director to join the Residence Education team within University Housing. The Hall Director plays a central role in shaping student life by fostering a strong community focused on academics, leadership, wellness, and inclusivity.
As a live-in professional, the Hall Director oversees the daily management of a residence hall or residential complex. This includes supervision and development of student staff, implementation of residence life programming, crisis response, and ensuring that housing operations meet university and departmental standards. The role is a vital student support function, rooted in servant leadership, where the Hall Director acts as a mentor and guide to resident students, promoting their academic, social, cultural, and personal growth.
Key responsibilities include:
Creating a safe and welcoming living-learning community for students.
Supervising residence life student staff and managing hall operations.
Implementing and evaluating student engagement programs.
Promoting student leadership and identity development.
Enforcing university and housing policies and upholding community standards.
Managing crisis situations and serving in on-call rotation.
Collaborating with campus departments and serving as a liaison to administrative units.
This is a full-time, regular day-shift position that offers a dynamic and mission-driven work environment within one of the nation’s top research institutions.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in sociology, public administration, or a related field from an accredited institution.
At least two years of experience in program administration or a related area.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in college student personnel, higher education administration, counseling, or a related field.
Graduate or full-time experience in residential life, student leadership, or student development.
Experience managing staff and coordinating student-focused programs.
Key Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):
Ability to plan and organize programs for student development.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational, leadership, and administrative skills.
