Description:
Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., a world leader in wireless innovation and 5G technology, is seeking a skilled Hardware Support Engineer to join its Qualcomm Government Technologies division based in Boulder, Colorado. This position offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies that drive global connectivity and innovation.
The selected candidate will be responsible for performing component and system-level debugging, integration, and testing of RF, analog, and digital systems. This role plays a vital part in ensuring the development and performance of next-generation hardware systems for government and commercial applications. The engineer will also contribute to hardware validation, test automation, design feedback, and technical documentation.
Applicants must be eligible for a U.S. government security clearance (Secret or Top-Secret) due to the nature of the projects involved.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform component- and system-level debugging and integration for RF, analog, and digital systems.
Set up, calibrate, and execute complex automated tests, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in results.
Develop and optimize hardware designs and test methodologies aligned with Qualcomm’s engineering standards.
Support design teams by providing detailed feedback, assisting with prototype validation, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Develop and document essential design details including materials, components, and assemblies.
Troubleshoot product design issues, propose solutions, and document lessons learned for future reference.
Serve as a technical lead for small-scale projects, managing schedules, deliverables, and team coordination.
Collaborate cross-functionally with RF, analog, and digital IC designers, software engineers, system engineers, and test teams to ensure seamless hardware development and validation.
Conduct specialized analyses such as feasibility studies, signal and power integrity assessments, and system-level evaluations.
Continuously expand technical knowledge of Qualcomm products, emerging industry trends, and hardware design advancements.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field and 2+ years of relevant Support Engineering experience;
OR Associate’s degree with 3+ years of experience;
OR High School Diploma with 4+ years of hands-on experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or a related discipline.
Certification in electronics or a related technical field.
Military background or training in electronics (Rank E5+ and 2 years experience) preferred.
4+ years of experience in digital hardware, software, or analog RF troubleshooting and debugging.
4+ years of lab experience using test and measurement instruments (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, RF tools, etc.).
5+ years of experience in wireless, consumer, or portable electronics development.
Strong understanding of circuit design, schematic capture, and circuit simulation software.
Experience conducting system-level tests and developing automated test processes.
Excellent communication, organizational skills, and a proactive learning attitude.
Leadership experience (2+ years), with or without direct reports.
Experience working with senior leadership teams or technical project leads.
Additional Requirements:
Must meet eligibility requirements for Secret or Top-Secret U.S. Government Clearance.

Compensation and Benefits:
Hourly Rate: USD 40.77 – 61.15 (approx. USD 7063 – 10592 per month).
