The HBO Documentary Films intern will have the opportunity to be immersed in the programming world within the documentary industry. Interns will gain a comprehensive understanding of the programming process from inception through the stages of production and promotion and beyond by working both independently and collaboratively. Intern will brainstorm on creative ideas and see it to fruition, participating in project meetings and working alongside multiple team members within the department in various ways. Additionally, the intern will have an opportunity to learn about careers pathways in the non-fiction industry and provide support to the department, which develops, acquires, and promotes non-fiction programs and new media activity.

  • Screen and write coverage for documentary films.
  • Experience pitch meetings first-hand
  • Support department in administration upkeep by maintaining the organization of departmental tracking systems
  • Research and various projects.Applicant must have strong interest in documentaries.
  • Have spreadsheets and analytical skills. A strong attention to detail.
  • Must know Microsoft applications.
  • Willing to work with a team and independently.
  • Must be currently enrolled as a student (proof of enrollment will be required if selected for an internship)
  • Must be a rising Junior, Senior, or Graduate student (18 years or older)
  • Must have at least a 3.0 GPA
  • Must have the legal right to work in the United States
  • Our Spring 2023 program is a 12 Week Internship that will run from Monday, February 6th through Friday, April 28th, 2023
  • Part time-schedule (16-24 hours/week) required
  • Company-issued computer or secured remote access provided for the duration of the internship program
  • Our internships are paid opportunities with a competitive salary. Credit is not required; however, we will provide the necessary documentation for school credit if desired. Relocation is not provided.
