Description:

GamesBeat dynamic, results-driven Head of Tech, IT, and Product. This role will be responsible for overseeing the technology infrastructure, product development, site design implementation, subscription flows, and IT operations for GamesBeat. In this part-time contract role with the potential to transition to a full-time position, you will be instrumental in optimizing site performance, user experience, SEO, and cross-team collaboration to enhance our digital offerings and maximize audience engagement.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • SEO & Web Optimization:
  • Oversee SEO strategy to ensure GamesBeat ranks highly in search engines, utilizing best practices for on-page and off-page optimization.
  • Monitor and optimize for site compliance, accessibility, and performance metrics.
  • Data Privacy & Compliance:
  • Ensure the website and all digital platforms comply with privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA, etc.) and maintain high standards of data security.
  • Web Development & Design Implementation:
  • Collaborate closely with the marketing team to understand and bring to life their design concepts for new site features, landing pages, and event pages.
  • Build out and implement marketing designs directly on the site, ensuring a seamless user experience from concept to execution.
  • Translate creative concepts into functional, responsive web pages while ensuring they are optimized for speed, performance, and SEO.
  • Ensure that designs align with brand guidelines and user experience best practices to maintain consistency across all touchpoints.
  • Customer Flow & Subscription Growth:
  • Develop and optimize customer flows for newsletter sign-ups and GB Max subscriptions.
  • Create and implement strategies to grow GB Max subscriptions through design and workflow optimization.
  • Collaboration & Strategy:
  • Work closely with the marketing and events teams to design compelling event pages and digital experiences.
  • Partner with editorial teams on content strategy and site updates to ensure alignment with broader business goals.
  • Site & IT Product Support:
  • Provide ongoing support for GamesBeat’s tech infrastructure, ensuring the site runs smoothly and efficiently.
  • Offer support for the company’s IT needs, including platforms like Google Ad Manager.
  • Analytics & Reporting:
  • Provide regular Google Analytics reports on site traffic, audience growth, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Use data to continuously optimize site performance and content strategy.
  • Collaboration with Ad Ops & Account Managers:
  • Ensure that digital ads (including video ads) are properly displayed on the site, in collaboration with the ad ops and account management teams.
  • IT & Website Management:
  • Support broader IT needs for the company, ensuring technical infrastructure aligns with business requirements.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for technical issues and assist in troubleshooting site or platform issues.
  • Additional Responsibilities:
  • Expertise in migrating content when required.
  • Ability to build custom landing pages as needed to support marketing campaigns.
  • Serve as a key stakeholder in the overall digital strategy and continuously seek opportunities to improve user experience.
  • Manage the technical side of the BIG Show podcast, including uploading video and audio files to different platforms and coordinating with editorial and marketing on the promotion of episodes.
  • Provide technical support for GB Live streams, AMAs, and other livestreamed events.

 

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a web developer or technical lead with a strong understanding of web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP).
  • Expert-level proficiency with WordPress, including custom theme and plugin development.
  • Strong experience with SEO, web performance optimization, and web analytics (Google Analytics, SEMrush, etc.).
  • A solid understanding of data privacy laws and site compliance standards.
  • Strong design eye with the ability to create attractive, functional, and user-friendly landing pages and digital experiences.
  • Experience in managing digital ads (including video) and collaborating with ad ops teams.
  • Knowledge of content migration, website management, and technical troubleshooting.
  • Experience with email marketing and conversion optimization for newsletter sign-ups and subscription-based products.
  • Familiarity with Google Ad Manager and other ad-serving platforms.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
