Heavy Equipment Shop Technician

Description:

Alta Equipment Group, one of North America’s largest equipment dealerships, is seeking a Heavy Equipment Shop Technician for their Midway, FL branch. Technicians play a critical role in maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting diesel, agricultural, and heavy construction equipment. Key Responsibilities:

• Perform inspections, removal and installation of parts, maintenance, and basic diagnostics.

• Implement optional equipment accessories and conduct general repairs.

• Participate in testing and troubleshooting procedures.

• Incorporate Alta’s Guiding Principles into daily activities.

• Ensure consistent, reliable attendance and readiness for work at designated start times.

• Engage in in-house training programs to develop advanced technical skills.

• Adhere to company safety standards and operational procedures.

Key Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of heavy equipment or OTR repair experience preferred.

• Strong mechanical aptitude with knowledge of engines, power trains, hydraulics, and electrical systems.

• Must possess personal tools and a positive, high-energy attitude.

• Basic computer literacy including Microsoft Outlook and manufacturer diagnostic programs (e.g., Volvo VCADS).

• Ability to read, interpret, and apply technical manuals and instructions.

• Physical ability to lift and move equipment up to 100+ pounds occasionally, and work in varying environmental conditions.

Physical Demands / Work Environment:

• Frequent standing, walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.

• Exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and outdoor weather conditions.

• Occasional work in wet or humid environments, with potential risk of electrical shock and vibration.
