Human Resources Manager

 

Description:

Maine Eye Center, northern New England's most comprehensive eye specialty practice, is seeking a Human Resources Manager to join their team in Portland, Maine. Reporting directly to the CEO, the HR Manager will be responsible for overseeing all human resources activities, including recruitment, retention, employee relations, benefits administration, onboarding, compliance, and performance management. The position requires strong leadership and organizational skills, as well as the ability to foster a positive work culture and implement retention initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement recruitment and onboarding strategies

  • Oversee employee relations and address grievances and conflicts

  • Develop performance management programs

  • Manage compensation and benefits administration

  • Ensure compliance with labor laws and regulations

  • Provide recommendations for staff training and development

  • Cultivate a positive work culture and implement retention initiatives

  • Coordinate new employee orientations and exit interviews

  • Maintain personnel and payroll files

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or professional certification such as SHRM

  • 5-10 years of progressive HR leadership experience

  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills

  • Proficiency with MS Office

  • Ability to work onsite in Portland, ME
