Industrial Maintenance Technician

Description:

SpaceX, a pioneering leader in space technology dedicated to enabling human life on Mars, is seeking highly skilled Industrial Maintenance Technicians to join the Facilities Operations team at Cape Canaveral. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the installation, operation, and maintenance of heavy industrial equipment, including cranes, elevators, mega doors, and compressed air systems. You will collaborate with design engineers, troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical breakdowns, and ensure the safe, reliable operation of mission-critical systems in one of the most dynamic and fast-paced work environments in the world.

Key Responsibilities:

• Interpret engineering blueprints and work instructions for installation and maintenance activities.

• Install, maintain, and repair production support, ground support, and launch support equipment.

• Conduct inspections of cranes, elevators, compressed air systems, and mega doors to ensure functionality and safety.

• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical breakdowns.

• Collaborate with engineering teams to resolve issues and recommend design improvements.

• Fabricate custom parts for repairs or system upgrades.

• Maintain and service HVAC systems as needed during high workload surges.

• Perform preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance to reduce downtime.

• Conduct safety checks and resolve potential hazards.

• Install and modify electrical conveyances, cable trays, conduit, and power systems up to 480VAC.

• Maintain compliance with OSHA safety regulations and SpaceX operational standards.

Preferred Skills & Knowledge:

• Strong knowledge of mechanical/electrical systems maintenance.

• Hands-on experience with AC/DC electrical systems, building automation, production automation, and aerospace systems.

• Proficiency in using multimeters, hand tools, and power tools.

• Knowledge of HVAC, electrical safety, pneumatic principles, pipe-fitting, rotating machinery, machining, and welding.

• Ability to work at elevated heights (>80 ft) and in extreme conditions (heat, cold, rain, noise, odors).

Additional Requirements:

• Ability to pass an Air Force background check for Cape Canaveral.

• Willingness to work flexible schedules including weekends, overtime, on-call shifts, and occasional 2nd shifts.

• Capability to lift up to 60 lbs, work in cramped spaces, and operate forklifts/aerial platforms.

• Valid driver’s license.

• Must meet ITAR requirements (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee, or asylee).
