The Wisconsin School of Business at the University of Wisconsin–Madison invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor in Operations and Information Management (OIM), set to begin in August 2026. This is an exceptional opportunity for emerging scholars passionate about research, teaching, and contributing to sustainability and innovation within supply chain management and related fields.
This role is part of the Wisconsin Research, Innovation and Scholarly Excellence (RISE) – Environment: Adaptation, Resilience, Technology, and Humanity (EARTH) cluster hire initiative. The EARTH cluster focuses on advancing interdisciplinary solutions for environmental and societal resilience, providing collaborative research opportunities across departments and colleges within UW–Madison.
The successful candidate will join a highly active department renowned for its cutting-edge research, dynamic teaching environment, and strong connections with industry leaders through centers such as the Grainger Center for Supply Chain Management and the Erdman Center for Technology Strategy and Product Management.
Develop and maintain a robust and high-impact research program in operations and information management, emphasizing sustainability or related domains.
Teach undergraduate and graduate courses within the Wisconsin School of Business, contributing to programs such as MBA, MS in Supply Chain Management, MS in Business Analytics, and undergraduate majors in Information Systems and Operations.
Collaborate on interdisciplinary research efforts through the RISE EARTH initiative and other university partnerships.
Engage in university and community service, supporting the academic and intellectual mission of the department and school.
Advise and mentor students, fostering academic excellence and innovation in teaching and research.
Required:
PhD in Operations Management, Information Systems, Operations Research, Management Science, or a closely related field (must be completed by start date).
Evidence of an active or emerging research pipeline likely to produce publications in top-tier academic journals.
Demonstrated or potential excellence in teaching and student engagement.
Preferred:
Strong research interest in sustainability, supply chain management, or related environmental and technological challenges.
Proven ability to work collaboratively across disciplines.
