Description:

  • Assists in implementing development methodologies, tools, best practices, and providing in-depth expertise to developers, engineers, data professionals in the form of consulting, training, mentoring and hands-on participation.
  • Advises on the application of architecture modeling tools in the architectural planning process necessary to integrating IT programs with other programs of equivalent scope and complexity.
  • Manages the enterprise-wide implementation of new approaches to software development for applications and systems that serve multiple organizational levels.
  • Coordinates and directs the evaluation of missions, goals, plans, programs and business processes to develop an enterprise IT architecture plan for the Agency.
  • Ensures that enterprise architecture plans are aligned with current and future infrastructure in the design, development and administration of various mission critical IT systems that support core Agency functions.
  • Subject to satisfactory adjudication of background investigation and/or fingerprint check
  • Successful completion of one-year probationary period, unless previously served.

One full-time year of Information Technology (IT) experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service (or private sector equivalent) that demonstrates experience developing major components of an enterprise architecture plan to support an agency's IT portfolio; experience in business architecture and/or enterprise architecture in a on premise, Software as a Service (SaaS), cloud domain or cloud-based system of networks and information systems; and information management systems development life cycle (i.e., system requirements, design, test, and implementation).

  • This position is eligible for telework within the local commuting area of the position and other flexible work arrangements. Current USDA policy includes telework for an 8 hour work day, 4 days per week; other flexibilities are possible dependent upon availability and/or the position and its associated duties. Employee participation is at the discretion of the supervisor.
