Builders First Source, through its division Spenard Builders Supply, is seeking a motivated and customer-focused Inside Counter Sales Associate to join its Anchorage, Alaska team. Spenard Builders Supply is Alaska’s leading supplier of building materials and home improvement products, serving residential and commercial builders, specialty contractors, government institutions, and DIY customers. In this role, the Inside Counter Sales Associate will be responsible for providing superior customer service and sales support, assisting walk-in and telephone customers, preparing product estimates, processing orders, scheduling deliveries, and maintaining store operations. The role requires strong communication, attention to detail, knowledge of basic sales techniques, and proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP systems.

Key Responsibilities include:

• Assisting retail customers with product selection, pricing, availability, and order processing.

• Actively engaging in sales of company products and related items while providing quotes and estimates for small projects such as stairs, decks, fences, and sheds.

• Entering orders into the system, scheduling deliveries, and coordinating logistics.

• Supporting customer workshops and resolving inquiries or complaints, escalating complex issues to senior staff when necessary.

• Assisting with store operations including signage, stocking, inventory control, and housekeeping.

• Ensuring compliance with all safety practices and attending periodic safety meetings.

Requirements & Skills:

• High school diploma or GED required.

• At least 6 months of sales-related experience or equivalent.

• Knowledge of building materials, company and competitor products, pricing, and discount formulas.

• Strong verbal and written communication, customer service orientation, and sales influence skills.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and ERP programs.

• Ability to operate material handling equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks.

Work Environment / Physical Activity:

• Combination of indoor office and outdoor work with varying weather conditions.

• Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs frequently and occasionally up to 80 lbs.

• Standing/walking for 80% of the day with regular stooping, kneeling, and reaching.

• Occasional use of hand tools and equipment when assisting customers.
