Inside Sales Specialist

 

Description:

The Inside Sales Specialist (ISS) consultatively engages customers to understand business needs, qualifies new leads, supports existing accounts, prepares quotes, resolves issues, and collaborates with sales account owners. The role blends transactional customer support tasks with strategic sales responsibilities including complex quoting, technical collaboration, lead management, and outbound prospecting.


Key Responsibilities:

Transactional Duties:

  • Respond to daily inquiries (standard quotes, order status, tracking)

  • Monitor shared inbox and route complex inquiries appropriately

  • Enter/update customer data in SFDC

  • Process order changes and expedited orders

  • Expedite sales orders under direction

  • Route questions regarding terms or engineering needs

Strategic Duties:

  • Manage complex or technical quote requests

  • Collaborate with production, engineering & product managers for pricing

  • Review leads from webforms, trade shows, and other channels

  • Qualify leads and assign them to account owners

  • Conduct outbound prospecting and relationship building

  • Support large account growth with field sales

  • Monitor customer performance and identify upsell opportunities

  • Recommend special pricing and margin decisions

  • Participate in promotional, distribution, and pricing programs


Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

  • BA/BS + 0–2 years experience in sales/customer service
    OR

  • Associate degree + 5 years experience in sales/customer service

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Strong written/verbal communication

  • Problem-solving & data analysis skills

  • Strong organizational skills in fast-paced environments

  • Ability to understand and communicate basic technical concepts

  • Strong influencing & interpersonal skills

  • Proficiency with MS Office, CRM, ERP, and reporting tools:

    • Outlook, Excel, Word, JDE, Salesforce.com, Business Objects

  • Familiarity with professional sales techniques:

    • Value selling, project selling, handling objections
