Description:

The Meadows Foundation, a private family foundation dedicated to improving the quality of life for the people of Texas, is seeking an experienced and dedicated IT Support Specialist to join their team in Dallas, TX. For over 77 years, the Foundation has awarded more than $1.4 billion to Texas-based initiatives in arts, education, health, environment, civic affairs, and human services. In addition to grantmaking, the Foundation supports nonprofit organizations by providing rent-free collaborative office space within the Wilson Historic District, a 22-acre campus featuring 29 new and restored historic buildings.

The IT Support Specialist will be responsible for overseeing and maintaining the Foundation’s daily technology operations, including hardware and software setup, troubleshooting, user support, security management, and vendor coordination. This role will support infrastructure projects, disaster recovery planning, and IT security measures while ensuring seamless technology solutions that align with the Foundation’s evolving needs. Working under the Vice President of Communications and in collaboration with the managed IT services provider, this role requires both independent problem-solving and effective teamwork.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and maintain software, hardware, and peripheral devices, including new and existing workstations.

  • Conduct routine maintenance and system upgrades for both software and hardware.

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for IT-related support, providing help desk services and staff training on new technologies.

  • Manage IT asset inventory and maintain accurate technical documentation.

  • Coordinate with vendors and participate in contract negotiations for new systems and software acquisitions.

  • Monitor and maintain security protocols, including antivirus software, user access control, and network security measures.

  • Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans to ensure operational continuity.

  • Provide technical troubleshooting to diagnose and resolve system issues efficiently.

  • Stay current with the latest IT systems, management technologies, and cybersecurity practices.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience (required).

  • 2–4 years of professional IT support experience.

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft 365, Windows 11, Server 2016/2019, Hyper-V, server clustering, and firewall management.

  • Ability to prioritize multiple overlapping projects and adapt to a dynamic environment.

  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.

  • Commitment to maintaining a high level of professionalism, discretion, and customer service.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a small, mission-driven team.

  • Willingness to handle after-hours critical systems maintenance.

Physical & Environmental Demands:

  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, crawl, and reach frequently.

  • Manual dexterity for typing and IT equipment handling.

  • Occasionally lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
